Επιστρέφουμε με ένα νέο επεισόδιο, αφιερωμένο στη βιοαρχαιολογία και στη μελέτη της κινητικότητας στον βυζαντινό κόσμο — ένα θέμα που συνδυάζει την ιστορία, την αρχαιολογία και τις πιο σύγχρονες επιστημονικές μεθόδους.
Σε αυτό το επεισόδιο (επ. 22), έχουμε τη χαρά να φιλοξενούμε τη Δρ Ευθυμία Νικήτα, Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Βιοαρχαιολογίας στο Ινστιτούτο Κύπρου και διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένη επιστήμονα. Συζητάμε για το άρθρο της Human mobility in Byzantine Cyprus: A case study from the Hill of Agios Georgios, Nicosia και αναλύουμε πώς η μελέτη σκελετικών καταλοίπων μάς βοηθά να κατανοήσουμε τις μετακινήσεις ανθρώπων και τις κοινωνικές αλληλεπιδράσεις στη βυζαντινή Κύπρο.
Η Δρ Νικήτα έχει διακριθεί διεθνώς:
Έχει σπουδάσει Αρχαιολογία στο ΑΠΘ και Βιολογική Ανθρωπολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Cambridge.
Έχει διατελέσει υπότροφος στη Βρετανική Σχολή Αθηνών, στην Αμερικανική Σχολή Κλασικών Σπουδών και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Sheffield.
Έχει δημοσιεύσει πάνω από 100 άρθρα και κεφάλαια βιβλίων, καθώς και το βραβευμένο Osteoarchaeology (Elsevier 2017).
Είναι συνεπιμελήτρια της Encyclopedia of Archaeology και συν-εκδότρια του Journal of Archaeological Science.
Το 2022 τιμήθηκε με το Dan David Prize για τη συνεισφορά της στη μελέτη του παρελθόντος.
